It’s not often that you’re able to convince the PREMIER OF THE STATE to order everyone to drop their tools and stop work for an hour. But that’s exactly what Peter Malinauskas did when he learned about Sammy’s story.

Sammy was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, his Mum Ali is now focusing on making sure that Sammy lives a wonderful life for the next 6-9 months. One little part of that is making sure Sammy can fulfil his dream to be a police officer.

Read all about Sammy’s heart wrenching story here.

When Max & Ali heard about Sammy’s story they just had to help make sure that he realises his wish. And it’s fair to say that all of Adelaide has gotten on board with us!

Here are just some of the massive things that the wonderful state of South Australia has made happen for Sammy today:

Premier Peter Malinauskas issues stop-work order

If you’re wanting to get down to Rundle Mall today but figure that you can’t get away from your desk, you have been given immunity! Premier Peter Malinauskas has let all bosses in SA know that all employees have immunity to leave their desks and head to Rundle Mall between 12:30pm and 1:30pm today.

“The way that you guys and everyone’s helping out Sammy to realise his dreams is really capturing the hearts and the attention of the whole state”, the Premier told Max & Ali.

“So, you know what, I think we’ve got to issue an hour-long ‘stop work order’ starting at 12:30pm [today] for every single last employee across the state.”

Police Commissioner Grant Stevens recruits Sammy into SAPOL

He’s most certainly the youngest police officer ever appointed in the state. But when Max & Ali found out that Sammy dreams of becoming a police officer they went straight to the big boss.

Commissioner Stevens made a special trip to the Mix 102.3 studios to appoint Sammy with a badge that made him a Special Constable. Although he did have to take a pledge first.

Sammy recited the pledge: “I promise to help people, I promise to solve crimes and I promise to catch criminals”. However, he stopped short of making any promises to not “blow shit up”.

Could get wild out there today if Sammy has anything to do with it!

Guy Sebastian to throw a free concert for Sammy

Maybe we’re counting our chickens before they hatch here, but we reckon Sammy is going to do an amazing job today solving crimes and catching crooks.

And to celebrate his success, Guy Sebastian has promised to throw a free concert in Rundle Mall!

And so much more…

We’re shutting down the airspace over Adelaide so that Sammy has free passage in his chopper from his school over to Adelaide Oval. Rundle Mall is being handed over to Sammy for him to solve crimes and so many South Aussies have donated gifts and their time to make Sammy’s dream a reality.
