Adelaide Fringe is calling on the public to support its annual Giving Day on Tuesday 25 February; a 24-hour fundraising drive to enable communities and school groups experiencing disadvantage to attend Fringe. With a goal to raise $160,000, this initiative will provide 10,000 tickets to people experiencing disadvantage across South Australia, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access meaningful arts experiences.

Now in its third year, Giving Day is an initiative of the Adelaide Fringe Foundation, Arts Unlimited, designed to break down financial and social barriers to arts participation. Last year’s Giving Day saw overwhelming generosity from donors, raising just over $100,000 to provide 6,000 free tickets to disadvantaged communities. This year, with an even bigger goal, Arts Unlimited is calling on art lovers, businesses, and the broader community to help make Adelaide Fringe the most inclusive festival in the world.

Funds raised will go directly towards providing Adelaide Fringe tickets to children, families, and individuals who might otherwise miss out.

To maximise the impact of this initiative, donations made on Giving Day up to $80,000 will be matched by generous partners, including Lumo Energy, Toyota, MGA Whittles Community Foundation, Lutheran Care and Health Partners. This means every dollar contributed will go twice as far in opening doors for those who need it most.

David Pearson, Chair of the Adelaide Fringe Foundation Board, emphasised the importance of the initiative, saying, “Giving Day is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a movement. The impact of a single donation goes beyond a ticket; it creates life-changing arts experiences that inspire, uplift, and bring people together. We encourage the community to get behind Giving Day and help us make the Fringe truly for everyone.”

Felix Jozeps, Programs Officer at Canteen, highlighted the impact of the initiative, saying, “As a recipient of tickets provided by Arts Unlimited, Canteen is able to offer the opportunity for young people impacted by cancer to experience Adelaide Fringe; and it’s truly life-changing. The arts provide a sense of escape, joy, and connection, which is incredibly valuable for the people in our community, at a challenging time in their lives. With your support this Giving Day, more young people can take a break from their challenges and immerse themselves in the arts. We are so grateful for this initiative and the generosity of those who support it.”
