Last week we received a letter from Victoria who wanted to share her best friend Ali’s story with us.
Ali is a lovely single mother of three – Ali, Erin, and little Sammy. Unfortunately, their beautiful family was thrown upside down at the end of 2023 when Sammy had a fall at school, which led to issues with his hand-eye coordination and balance. Concerned with a potential concussion, Ali took Sammy to the hospital for tests where she learnt the worst news any parent could ever hear.
Sammy was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
Ali has left her work as an aged care worker to be Sammy’s full-time carer, all while trying to raise a family on a disability carer’s allowance.
She is now focusing the next 6-9 months on trying to make memories.
No parent deserves this, and no kid deserves this either.
