‘Murder Capital of Australia’ didn’t really fit the backdrop of a sunny Adelaide morning, but for the true crime sleuth that also wants to get their 10-thousand steps in, it was the perfect morning outing! Travelling through the northeast corner of the city, our guide shared some of the stories which earned Adelaide its “murderous” reputation.
The crimes took place as early as 1862, through to the 2000s. Some, we learned about for the first time, but many, were very high-profile. It was fascinating to learn new facts about the crimes from our nightly-news during the years-passed. A particular highlight were the personal anecdotes that became part of the show. “Everybody knows everyone” in Adelaide, so inevitably, previous guests with links to investigations, crimes or the perpetrators from both previous tours and our own, added some valued input.
As enjoyable as the theme of the tour was, it was equally as enjoyable to stroll the city on a beautiful morning, interact with our host and the audience, before disappearing down the rabbit hole for the rest of the weekend with a new spark of true crime fascination.
